True Meridian offers a unique holistic approach to your equine athletes and beloved companion animals. We combine multiple alternative modalities in the same visit, which means your animal can receive treatments such as acupuncture and spinal manipulation at the same time on the same day. We also use herbology, food therapy, Tui-na, and saddle fit evaluation (equine) to provide a highly individualized and comprehensive treatment plan for you and your animals. We believe that there is no “cookbook” approach to our patients and each treatment plan is highly individualized.
We believe in a team approach and will happily work with your regular veterinarian, farrier, pet physical therapist, trainer, and riding instructor to ensure the most integrated treatment approach possible.
Dr. Christina Truesdale is a retired Army Veterinary Corps Officer with extensive experience in equine field medicine, working dog emergency medicine, and preventive medicine. An avid equestrian for over 30 years, she combines her passion for classical dressage theory with her affinity for biomechanics to provide her clients with a fresh and unique diagnostic approach.
Dr. Truesdale became interested in acupuncture after a riding accident left her with a fractured spine. Conventional medicine was frustratingly ineffective at managing her own pain as well as the back condition that caused her mare to buck. Her search for better medical treatments led her to Chinese medicine and ignited her passion for alternative approaches in both humans and animals. Throughout her Army career, Dr. Truesdale practiced veterinary medicine in a variety of cultures and environments, teaching her the skills she needed to be an adaptive and creative practitioner. Her veterinary experience spans several countries such as Israel, South Korea, Iraq, Kurdistan, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Germany, as well as all over the United States.
Dr. Truesdale earned her DVM from the University of Missouri in 2004. She also has a BS in Animal Science from Truman State University and a Master of Science in International Agriculture Development from the University of California-Davis. She received her training in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Food Therapy, and Tui-na from Chi University and received her certification in Equine Veterinary Medical Manipulation (Spinal Manipulation) from the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute. She is also a Certified TCVM Palliative and End-of-Life Practitioner.
When she is not treating patients, she competes with her mule Heart in dressage and her mule Jack in competitive trail. She is also an emerging Paralympic Cyclist and races road bikes for Team Audi.
